Ochira kali festival 2021
A sanctuary without a clear format or symbol of love, the Ochira Temple arranged close to the National Highway interfacing Kollam and Alappuzha areas is well eminent for its celebration – the Ochira Kali. Here, the entire idea of love rotates around the Parabrahma or the general awareness. It is this uniqueness that makes this sanctuary stand separated from the rest.
The feature of the celebration, at this sanctuary, is the counterfeit fight between two gatherings, to the sound of drums, in a waterlogged field called padanilam. This fight celebrates the memorable fight, battled between the recent Kayamkulam and Ambalapuzha realms. The occasion highlights young men and men, split in two gatherings, who hop into the field, to take part in a counterfeit fight. In this false fight, sticks supplant blades and the members sprinkle sloppy water at one another.
The celebration is hung on the initial two days of the Malayalam month of Mithunam (Mid June).
